Light

Me, standing at the station. Waiting for the 5.55pm train. I am wearing my long jacket. The blue scarf is hugging my neck loosely. A smile trembles up my chest and onto my face as I see a couple embrace each other like it was their first and last time to be one.

Steps

Me, having coffee at that community-owned coffee shop not too far from home. Talking to people of all walks of life, color and size. We all share a slice of love. It can be easy; it can be hard; but in the end it is worth every little bit.

Worries

Me, tight jeans, killer shirt & hat. It is Friday night and we are going out. Warmup at the bar around the corner. Then dancing at the new club. It is 80s night. My favorite. I hope she brings the stuff so we can get high. Again.

Rest

Me, with sleepy eyes on the train. I worked late the last few days. We are behind on our project even though it is not our fault. I hope we get it done and don’t have to cancel the family vacation.

Staircase

Me, sitting in the car with my mom. We are driving through the mountains. The gray granite to the left. The reds, yellows and oranges of fall to the right. We have been best friends since my father passed away four years ago.

Speaking Up

Me, having a coffee with my lover. The last rays of sunlight lighting up the office buildings around us. We talk about the past and future. I was able to express my feelings for the first time.

Scary Scary

Me, wearing the dark blue costume. With makeup, gloves, shimmering boots and a red wig. My friends are coming over in a little while to go out. Halloween is the only time of the year where I can dress how I truly want to look like.
